Place a plastic sandwich bag over the end of the rod to prevent snags.
Covering the ends with cellophane or duct tape works well also.
Washing Sheers
Wash sheers in warm not hot water on the gentle cycle. Rinse with cold water and a weak solution of fabric softener. Place in the dryer for a couple of minutes on a cool cycle with a couple of hand towels. Hang immediately to finish drying and prevent wrinkling.
Dust Free Drapes
When closing your drapes in the evening, shake gently to remove dirt and dust that has lodged in the fabric.
Vacuuming your drapes monthly with a soft brush attachment will help keep your drapes dust free.
Inserting Drapery Hooks
Coating drapery hooks with soap will make the hooks easier to push into the fabric.
Easy Moving Curtain Rods
Curtain rods should be waxed to help them move better.
Before Washing Windows
Avoid taking down the drapes when washing windows, drape them through a clothes hanger and hang from the curtain rod. The drapes will then be safely out of the way.
Cheap Drapery Hem Weights
Old door keys make excellent drapery weights.
Adding hem weights to the bottom or your drapes make them hang evenly.
Tangled Drapery Cords
Attach small weights to the bottom of your cords. Fishing line sinkers work well.
