Hang the pictures facing wall first and then turn over, crossing the wires. This prevents the pictures from slipping in one or the other direction.
Wrap masking tape with the sticky side out around the middle of a rounded toothpick and place a few near the bottom of the back of the frame. There will be no damage to the wall and your pictures will always hang straight.
Wrap scotch tape around the center of the picture wire and the wire will not slip on the hanger.
Place masking tape on the back four corners of your picture and press against your wall.
Hanging Rugs or Tapestries
Attach to the wall, a tack strip used for carpet laying and gently push the fabric of the rug or tapestry into the tacks and it will hang even.
Eliminating Experimental Holes
Make a pattern of paper for the picture or mirror you wish to hang. Position the paper on the wall where you want to hang the picture. When you have found the correct place make a hole in the paper with a pencil and mark your hole.
Hanging on Plaster Walls
Plaster tends to be either hard as a rock or very crumbly making picture hanging very difficult. Special hooks designed for plaster must be used. These hooks are not much different than regular hooks but the nails are thin, needle-sharp and are made from hardened steel that will not bend when driven into the plaster wall.
Create an Illusion of Room Height
Hang your pictures 2 to 3 inches above eye level to draw the eye upward.
Create a Picture Gallery
So you have more pictures than wall space to hang them on without looking cluttered. Try installing a couple of narrow display shelves on your wall and lean your pictures against the wall. Using just some of your collection switch them around every couple of months or maybe have a seasonal picture display.
