Add 1/2 cup ammonia, 1 cup white vinegar, 2 tablespoons of cornstarch to a bucket of warm water for a perfect solution for window washing.
On cold days, add 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol to each quart of water used and the problem of ice covering has been solved.
Wash with a cloth soaked in white vinegar for beautiful windows.
Shine with newspapers instead of paper towels. It is cheaper and some say easier.
After windows have been dried, rub a clean blackboard eraser over them for a really fine shine.

Rub the inside of windows with a sponge that has been dipped in rubbing alcohol. Polish with paper towels.
Cleaning Aluminum Window Frames

Cleaning Sliding Glass Door Tracks
Wrap a small cloth around an eraser and rub the tracks of the sliding door to clean and they will slide much better. An old toothbrush can be used to clean hard to get at spots.
Removing Insects
Using the plastic net bags that onions are packed in, tie a few bags inside of one bag. Use to scrub the windows when dried insects have accumulated.
Removing Grease Spots
Rub and polish with leftover cola drink.
Screen Repair
Cut a patch from an old pair of pantyhose to fix the hole. Staple or stitch the patch in place.
Small holes in your screens can be repaired with clear nail polish or clear epoxy glue. Straighten out the stands of the screen as much as possible and apply with a Q-Tip. Insert a toothpick into the clogged holes before the glue dries to open them back up. Several coats may be required.
Repairing a Window Pane Hole
Applying a coat of clear nail polish to a window pane hole or crack will seal it temporarily.
